A Video Review by Debra Kreml

Create A Paradise
Video 5028

And now it's cold! And the snow has arrived! We awaken each morning to a dark world and most of us arrive home, after punching the time clock, to an even darker one. Gone are the days of enjoying the bright sunlight and warm air. Amazingly our water feature is still showy with the dark leaves of plants, dark water and bright snow glistening on the banks. Our pets occasionally will tease us by showing us their bright colors as they slowly move along the water surface. Most though are deep waiting for their season to shine. Even though we don't join our little aquatic friends as frequently as we did before, we still wa tch their home through our frosty winter windows. And, the water garden remains a focal point even in the depths of winter and the coldest of days.

I curl up to a good video on a cold night, with the yard as my backdrop, enjoying it through the glass. I think about friends who have just begun their water gardening hobby this past year. They too will be enjoying their water garden year round. Their enthusiasm, their pride and their success in turning the pump 'on' this past summer will not soon be forgotten. They are one of the reasons I chose the Create a Paradise video tape to review. This video is by Aquascape Designs.

If you have a friend who is interested in the hobby but has not yet built a pond, or even sought the estimate of a landscaper, this video is for them. I am sure they seek you out for advice and hope that you will mentor them through this journey. I would suggest that you borrow this video and invite them over for a winter cup of cocoa and peppermint. What better way to spend an evening with friends on a cold wintery night then with a pond video and cocoa?

This video is a great beginner video and serves as a very useful tool. It is not 'heavy' on the information - rather it deals, for the most part, in generalities. Much of the video persuades the audience, with it's beautiful scenery as examples, that water gardening is a great hobby and adventure. And, it is so true. I found myself watching the water features longing for a quick winter so that I might be reunited with my oasis.

This video is presented in a way where the first time ponder is not overwhelmed. Rather it allows the hobbyist to digest the basics of water gardening. It explains that every environment is conducive to a pond creation, the economics of the hobby, the site location and the benefits of this yard addition. There are many pond examples that stimulate the audience into the creativity mode. Even though my personal 'feature' is complete (yeah right - are we ever done?) this basic video certainly jumped started 'mental designing' of change and additions to the habitat.

Perhaps the cold and darkness has pushed me headlong into dreaming of warmer days but this video certainly has helped take me there!!

As a beginners' basic video this suits the purpose well and because it meets the needs of its target audience, I give this video 3 FISH!!
