Spring anyone?? I am sure, like us, you are very excited about the turn of the seasons. Last year mid April we had cut the grass for the first time. Somehow though that seems improbable that spring could be that close when I look outside and find several inches of snow still sitting on the ground. And, with the change comes the opportunities to volunteer at any number of events our Club hosts or participates. So we are checking schedules, getting anxious and tweaking the budget. Along with Spring comes the inevitable purchases, changes to the pond and addition of new pets to the tranquil waters. "The Atlas of Water Gardens" is definitely a great spring book to cozy up to.

The book is rather heavy and large (hey, it's an Atlas) but I found myself ever so thankful for the very large print and the beautiful vivid photographs. No matter how old we might get we always enjoy the pics! (and the large print)

Half of the Atlas addresses the mechanics of the hobby. You will find everything from needed pond materials for building, filtration and seasonal pond care. There are direct steps to how to decorate your pond, how to pick your plants and the joys of finding new pets for your water world.

No Atlas would be complete without a section on fish descriptions. Personally I took a liking to this chapter as I am growing weary of saying, "There's a pretty one." It would be nice to say, "Wow, look at that Taicho Sanko!" or "Look at that Ginrin go!"

Why not borrow this book and one of our very informative videos? They would be your personal escape from the transitional weather we've been having and offer you many new ideas or perhaps how to freshen up the old ones! Please drop me an email with any borrowing questions or with borrowing requests. I will gladly bring your selection to the next club meeting!!

Be sure to give me notice on delivering this Atlas, I'll have to do some extra bench presses at the gym to build up enough muscle to deliver it!!

For size, large print, informative contents, illustration and photography, this book receives 3.5 fish!!
