Hi.... This is the second year of my pond, it is 15x20x30" deep. I have a biofalls filter and about 30 fish of assorted varieties. My question is, is it necessary to run the pump 24/7 or can I shut it off a night to save energy costs? Thanks for the reply....

Hey Frank,
Your pond has an approximate volume of 5600 gallons. You haven't told me how big the fish are, but I'll assume that some of them are koi, and that all of them are noticably bigger than they were last year.

If all the filter you have is the falls, then you *must* run that system 24/7, not only to keep up with the ammonia that your heavy stocking will produce, but also to avoid dead spots and stagnation that will encourage parasites. With your stocking levels, you'll need a lot more filtration real soon!
