My goldfish pond is in North Carolina. This is my first Winter with it. I stopped feeding the first week of December when it got cold and the fish went to the bottom.

Now we are having a warm week. The fish seem to want food. Should I give them some, until it gets cold again, or, once you stop, is it better to not resume feeding until Spring??

Thanks, Nancy

Hey, Nancy!

Understand that I'm speaking from a perspective based and nurtured in the Frozen North. Unless you are absolutely sure that your water temperatures are above 50 degrees and likely to stay there for a considerable period of time, DO NOT FEED.

When you do resume feeding, remember to start off slow with no more than one feeding every couple of days and high-carb, low fat/protein foods. We use Cheerios soaked in orange juice up here.
