I have both Koi and Goldfish
in my pond - I wish to only have Koi. I am obviously an amateur
- I can't tell the difference between the two - in the next
few weeks I'll be getting my pond going for the warmer season
and want the Goldfish "outta here".
Actually, Diane, it's pretty
easy.
As you net each fish for Spring Inspection,
look at its mouth. A smooth set of fish lips without barbels
identifies a goldfish. If the mouth in question has two sensory
tendrils (barbels) at each of the corners, it's a koi.
Happy sorting!
