The Tenth Annual Tosai* Auction - June 2, 2012
Chair: Bry Bateman
*What is a Tosai? It's a one-year-old
Koi that gives promise of being a beautiful adult.
The purpose of this auction is
to buy quality baby fish in bulk from their breeders, then make
them available to our club members at an affordable price. Their
new owners then get to grow them up big and beautiful and bring
them to the Koi and Goldfish Show. As a matter of fact, we give
a prize each year to the best fish from that year's tosai auction.
This is a Members - Only event, but
you can join up right there at the auction if you wish.
THE TOSAI ARE IN!!
The MPKS Annual Members-only Tosai Auction is coming up soon, and this years' selections may just be the best yet.
On a recent trip to Koi Acres, Bay and Bry Bateman selected about 40 very special baby koi that were hand picked in Japan earlier this Spring by Devin Swanson. They come from some of the top breeders in the area including Marudo, Omosako, and Marusaka.
Varieties include GinRin Kohaku, GinRin Chagoi, GinRin Ochiba Shigure, GinRin Matsukawabaki, Goshiki, Showa, ShiroUtsuri, Kohaku, Heisei Nishiki, Kujaku, Hariwaki, Kikusui, Kikokuryu, Kin Ki Utsuri, Shusui, and Kin Showa. We also have about 20 very nice domestically bred longfin koi, including Asagi, Shusui, Kumonryu (unusual in longfin type), and Yamabuki.
Quite a selection of koi! You won't want to miss this opportunity to enjoy an afternoon at the Batemans', relaxing by the ponds, visiting with fellow club members, tossing down a few hot dogs, and just having a good time. Oh yes, and getting your bids in on some of the prettiest little Tosai Koi you've ever seen!
