Another book on goldfish - do we
really need another book about goldfish? It's been sometime
since a new book on goldfish appeared, and to the best of
my knowledge, this is the first book on goldfish that deals
exclusively with goldfish varieties, and is written from the
view of a breeder, collector, and goldfish judge. Hopefully,
this perspective will make the book both interesting and informative
- and lead to an interest in goldfish that will last a lifetime.
The book is divided into fourteen (14) chapters, dealing with
each of the varieties recognized by the American Goldfish
Association (AGA), as well as a general introduction to goldfish
characteristics and an end chapter dealing with odd or interesting
fish. In all, there are over fifty (50) full color photographs
of goldfish, along with line drawings and standards that help
explain the characteristics of each fish covered in the text.
Along with the text, pictures
and line drawings and standards, are illustrations provided by Patti
Magee of Patti Grafix, which enliven the text, and make the book
more fun. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the
Mid-Atlantic Koi Club (MAKC), publisher of the book, and the American
Goldfish Association. These organizations will use the proceeds
to help fund educational and show opportunities across the country.
