June 4, 2005
In
spite of a prediction of thunderstorms, we had a beautiful
morning. Viewing began at 10 AM. These beautiful one-year-olds
included
- 40 standard koi, selected from
Nishikigoi of Niigata. This year, as requested, the
selection included more gosanke ("big three"
- kohaku,
sanke,
showa)
plus lots of goshiki and one larger ochiba donated by
the breeder
- 30 long-finned (AKA butterfly)
koi, from Blackwater Creek Farms via Sue Miller Enterprises
- Two fish donated by Bill Miller,
proceeds to sponsor Koi Show trophies.

Then Bob Passovoy auctions it off to a new home.

The storm sirens began to wail as we reached the end of
the auction. The thunderstorm hit as the last three fish
were sold. The crowd took shelter in the garage until the
line squall blew over. Oh, well. It's all unmetered water,
right? And ponders are used to the wet.
